Good morning guys!

Here you have a table to understand better the English Modal Verbs. 


ABILITY, ADVICE, OBLIGATION

AFFIRMATIVE / PRESENT

1. I can swim
2. I should eat healthy
3. I must do my homework
4. I have to do my homework

NEGATIVE / PRESENT

1. I can´t swim
2. I shouldn´t eat rubbish food
3. I don´t have to run in the school
4. I don´t have to shout in class

AFFIRMATIVE / PAST

1. I could play the piano when I was 5 years old. 
2. I had to wear uniform when I was 7 years old. 

NEGATIVE / PAST

1. I couldn´t swim when I was 2 years old.
2. I didn´t have to do homework when I was 1 year old.

PROHIBITION

1. I mustn´t speak in the library.

1ºESO A/B: Uncountable nouns: Partitive structure

Good morning guys! To count or quantify an uncountable noun we use a unit of measurement - a  measure word . For example, we cannot usually say “two breads” because “bread” is uncountable. So, if we want to specify a quantity of bread we use a measure word such as “loaf” or “slice” in a structure like “two loaves of bread” or “two slices of bread”. We call this structure a  partitive structure .
